Brand ambassador job descriptions tell you what the role pays and where to apply. They rarely tell you what the day actually looks like. Here's an honest walkthrough of a Greenline Activations sampling shift — from pre-event prep to post-event recap.
The week before: brief and prep
Every Greenline activation starts with a brand brief delivered 5–7 days before the event. The brief covers the product being sampled, the retailer and location, the shift time window, setup requirements, and the key consumer talking points and compliance guidelines.
For hemp and THC beverage activations specifically, the brief includes a refresher on the product's cannabinoid profile, any claims that are approved for consumer conversations, and the specific objections most likely to come up at that account. Reps who are HempSafe certified already have the foundational knowledge — the brief applies it to the specific product and event.
Event day: setup
Arrive 15–20 minutes before the shift window. Find the store manager or department lead, confirm the sample station location, and set up. A standard Greenline setup is straightforward: branded table cover, product display, sample cups, and collateral if the brand has provided it. The product is either drop-shipped to the store in advance or brought by the rep depending on the brand's logistics.
Placement matters. For in-store activations, the sample station should be adjacent to the product on shelf — not near the entrance. If a store manager tries to put you by the front door, push back politely and explain that shelf-adjacent placement drives better results for the store. Most managers are receptive when you frame it as their interest, not yours.
The shift: consumer conversations
The core of the shift is straightforward: engage shoppers, offer a sample, answer questions, note reactions. The best reps don't wait for consumers to approach — they make eye contact, offer a sample naturally, and open a conversation without feeling like a sales pitch.
For hemp beverages, the most common consumer questions are predictable: Will this get me high? Is this legal? How is this different from CBD? What does it feel like? A HempSafe-certified rep has accurate, confident answers to all of these. The goal isn't to convince skeptics — it's to give genuinely curious consumers the information they need to make a decision.
Track everything as you go: how many samples poured, how many purchase conversations, any repeated questions or objections, what retail staff said about the product. These notes become your recap.
Post-shift: the recap
Recaps are submitted within 24 hours via Greenline's standardized form. It covers: samples distributed, estimated purchases, top consumer questions, retail staff feedback, photos of the setup and product placement, and any notable observations about the store environment.
This isn't paperwork for its own sake. The recap data is what Greenline uses to optimize subsequent activations at the same account — better placement, sharper rep prep, adjusted talking points. Brands use it to track velocity lift. Reps who submit strong recaps consistently are the ones who get first access to better shifts.
